Deep Tech Centre of Excellence
Where Uganda’s engineering and innovation ecosystem converges. The Centre showcases the scale of investment driving Uganda’s industrial transformation and supporting homegrown innovative solutions. It provides dedicated spaces for all EDiC hubs to manufacture, collaborate, experiment, and develop their projects. Purpose-built labs and private workspaces offer engineers, designers, researchers, and creators the environment they need to turn ideas into practical, impactful solutions.
The Deep Tech Centre of Excellence also features a Technical Service Centre that provides technical and engineering support services that directly serve Uganda’s industrial establishments and IDEs. It operates and maintains a fleet of engineering machinery and equipment, not only leasing them to generate revenue but also deploying them to strategically support nascent Ugandan companies to deliver local content in Oil & Gas, national infrastructure projects such as roads, construction of the Hoima City Stadium, one of the venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, and the Coffee City in Ntugamo demonstrating how EDiC combines technical excellence with practical learning
The Centre has a dedicated Technology Transfer Office that provides services in intellectual property protection, portfolio management, commercialization strategy, and investor matchmaking. It empowers innovators to scale their ideas into businesses through licensing, spin-offs, and strategic partnerships. The TTO also runs training programs and advisory clinics to strengthen Uganda’s capacity in IP and technology transfer, ensuring that innovations developed here translate into lasting socio-economic impact. By combining innovation spaces with essential support facilities, the Deep Tech Centre of Excellence strengthens Uganda’s capacity to develop homegrown engineering solutions and advance industrial growth.
